Summary / Abstract :
Sihanouk gave up his position as the Head of State so that he could stand by the people. In his speech to the People Assembly, he pointed out that Cambodia was now at its most progressive stage in the last 2,000 years. Regarding the forced labour in Cambodia, the Cambodia expert in Thailand said the Khmer Rouge treated people much better than during the American-Lon Nol period, when Cambodians wer e treated as slaves.
