Summary / Abstract :
Pol Pot told a group of Japanese jounalists that he wanted to cooperate with all factions, including Sihanouk and the Lon Nol Forces, in order to fight the Vietnamese. He claimed to have 50,000 forces spread like a mesh net across the country, and to be able to secure military aid from friendly countries, mainly China. He said only several thousand Cambodians might have died due to some mistakes i n implementing the policy and due to the distortion of Democratic Kampuchea's policy by the Vietnamese intelligence agency. He said there had been six coups against his government. If he had executed the plotters, several thousand more would have died. He admitted a mistake in abolishing the monetary system. The journalists entered the Pol Pot base through Thailand.
