Summary / Abstract :

This is the final report of the Amnesty Conference on Extra-Legal Executions, which took place in April 1982 in Amsterdam. Although Amnesty maintains its historic and helpful focus on individual cases of "prisoners of conscience," it is also concerned with broader patterns and programs which are the contexts that legitimate and implement torture and death. The report calls for improved early warni ngs and world responses to government policies of murder as a political weapon. (Israel W. Charny).
