Summary / Abstract :
|
In 1965, Heng Chhan, [allegedly]a Khmer student in Russia, joined the Khmer Student Organization led by Lay Ny. In 1966, [Chhan]became a diplomat in Moscow, and then joined the KGB as a sleuth because the Phnom Penh government accused the Khmer Student Organization of being Khmer Rouge. In 1967, [Chhan]asked to break away from the Khmer Rouge. In 1969, [Chhan]went to Phnom Penh with the purpose of keeping track of activities of Khmer-Soviet Friendship School. In 1970, [Chhan]infiltrated Beijing, and later joined the National United Front of Kampuchea. In 1974, [Chhan]returned to Cambodia, then started a life in the farms and fields in Kampong Cham. In February 1975, [Chhan]was assigned by Angkar to study in Siem Reap. On 18 December, 1976, [Chhan]was arrested by Angkar.
