This led according to the analysts to a decision by Vietnam to step up its goal to one of destroying the Cambodian army facing it. A western electronic intercephtion of Vietnamese battlefilekd communications recorded an order to a unit in the field to stop pursuing territorial gain and concentrate on the main objectire which was, according to the order to kill the Cambodian Army.
