Born in Thva village, Battambang Sub-district, Battambang district, region 1, Ren, a member of Division 2 and a farmer, worked as a messenger of Say and Chheut. Then he joined the army with Say. In late 1970, he served as a secretary in Battambang district, contacting with factory workers who were CIA agents later, in Kampong Kul. In late 1971, the Angkar transfered him to zone military. He closely lived with Khleng and San.
រ៉េន នាទីកងពលទី២ មានស្រុកកំណើតនៅភូមិថ្វា ឃុំបាត់ដំបង ស្រុកបាត់ដំបងតំបន់១ មុខរបបធ្វើស្រែ។ រ៉េន ធ្លាប់ធ្វើនិរសាឱ្យឈ្មោះ សាយ និង ឈឺត ក្រោយមកចូលយោធានៅជាមួយ សាយ។ ចុងឆ្នាំ១៩៧០ រ៉េន ធ្វើលេខាស្រុកបាត់ដំបង បាន ទាក់ទងជាមួយកម្មកររោងចក្រនៅកំពង់គល់ ក្រោយមកពួកនេះសុទ្ធតែ ជាសេអ៊ីអា។ នៅចុងឆ្នាំ១៩៧១ អង្គការបានដក រ៉េន ឱ្យធ្វើយោធា ភាគ។ រ៉េន រស់នៅជិតស្និតជាមួយឈ្មោះ ក្លែង និង សាន។
