Under the Khmer Rouge regime, I lost my son and husband because the Khmer Rouge took them for re-education and I do not know whether they are still alive or dead. My husband was a musician. (At that time, he had a high position.) Then the Khmer Rouge killed my parents, took away our property, and burned our house. (This incident took place when people were evacuated out of Phnom Penh.) During the evacuation, [people] were relocated to Kravanh District, Pursat Province. Angkar forced me to harvest paddy fields day and night after I had just given birth to my child (three months). I was starved and overworked. On September 13, 1973 , I saw Angkar kill Raing, my neighbor, who was accused of stealing Angkar’s food. After watching him eat the food, Angkar killed him. One day, I saw a military truck taking village people from my cooperative for re-education. Afterward, those people disappeared forever. People responsible for the crimes committed are the Khmer Rouge leaders who killed many people. I believe this because I heard about the Khmer Rouge Tribunal on air. |

Request to Change Mode of Participation
I am Prum Suom, currently living in Bat Trang Village, Bat Trang Commune, Serei Saophoan District, Banteay Meanchey Province. On November 01, 2007, I filed the application form to be a civil party before the ECCC, reference number 07-VU-00150.
After listening by phone to the explanation of the Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam) staff member about the differences of the civil party and complainant on May 04, 2009, I would like to change my mode of participation from a civil party to a complainant.
I want to clarify that I have changed my mode of participation to a complainant because I have aged and I am not healthy enough to travel long distances.
Based on the above-mentioned details, I respectfully request the ECCC to allow me to change my mode of participation from a civil party to a complainant.
