On 30 September 1974, a Khmer Communist Vann Phen aka Sreng, 30 years old, defected to military authorities in Battalion 224 of Siem Reap sub-military region based in Banteay Russie. He also brought along a AK-47 and a magazine.
កាលពីថ្ងៃទី៣០ ខែកញ្ញា ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៤ មានខ្មែរកុម្មុយនិស្ដម្នាក់ឈ្មោះ វ៉ាន់ ផេន ហៅ សេ្រង អាយុ៣០ឆ្នាំ ដែលបានភ្ញាក់រឮកចូលមករួបរួម ក្នុងសង្គមជាតិ និងអាជ្ញាធរយោធាកងវរៈសេនាតូចលេខ២២៤ នៃផ្នែក សឹករងសៀមរាបនៅ បន្ទាយឫស្សី ដោយនាំមកជាមួយនូវកាំភើ្លងអាកា ៤៧ចំនួនមួយដើម និងប្រអប់ច្រកគ្រាប់មួយ។
