On October 10, 1974, two Khmer Communists Kou Kaet and Phatt Chham, managed to escape from enemy territory and reported themselves to national military authorities in Battalion 340 of infantry brigade 45. He also brought along a AK-47 and a magazine.
កាលពីថ្ងៃទី១០ ខែតុលា ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៤ មានខ្មែរកុម្មុយនិស្ដ២រូបឈ្មោះ គូ កើត, ផាន់ ឆាំ បានរត់ពីតំបន់ខ្មាំងកាន់កាប់មកចុះចូលជាមួយ អាជ្ញាធរយើងនៅកងវរៈសេនាតូចលេខ៣៤០ កងពលតូចថើ្មរជើង ទី៤៥ បាននាំគ្នាយកអាវុធអាកា៤៧ មួយដើម លេខ២៩០២ និងប្រអប់ច្រកគ្រាប់១។
