The Cambodian regime is in the process of construchtng with little outside help, a radically different country. What it calls «cooperatives» are to serve as the base for economic and social development. Predominantly rural oriented, such development may well occur, but the price of this effort is considerable: a spartan, miserable existence for people living constantly in fear, under strict control.
របបកម្ពុជាកំពុងស្ថិតនៅក្នុងដំណើរការនៃការអភិវឌ្ឍដែលមានជំនួយពី ខាងក្រៅប្រទេស។ ពាក្យថា ៉សហករណ៍ ៉ ដើរតួនាទីជាមូលដ្ឋាន សម្រាប់ការអភិវឌ្ឍសេដ្ឋកិច្ច និងសង្គម។ ការតម្រង់ទិសទៅទីជនបទ ហួសហេតុប្រហែលជាអាចបណ្ដាលឱ្យមានការអភិវឌ្ឍ ប៉ុន្ដែការលះបង់ នូវទង្វើនេះក៏ធំធេងណាស់ដែរពោលគឺ ធ្វើឱ្យប្រជាជនរស់នៅក្រោមការ ភ័យខ្លាច និងក្រោមការគ្រប់គ្រង។
