On May 10, 1970, Saom Yanna, who lived in Sra Yov commune, Kampong Svay district of Kampong Thom province, volunteered to serve Khmer National Army as Military Police corporal-trainee.
កាលពីថ្ងៃទី១០ ឧសភា ឆ្នាំ១៩៧០ ឈ្មោះ សោម យ៉ាន់ណា រស់នៅឃុំស្រយូវ ស្រុកកំពង់ស្វាយ ខេត្ដកំពង់ធំ បានស្ម័្រគចិត្ដ ចូលបម្រើក្នុងកងយោធពលខេមរជាតិ ក្នុងឋានៈជាសិស្សពលបាលត្រី តម្រួតយោធា។
