Summary / Abstract :
|
The American airlift of ammunition, rice and fuel to the threatened capital of Phnom Penh was briefly interrrupted today when a barrage of insurgent rockets killed four ground crew unloading aircraft and injured more than 40 people at Pochentong airport six miles from the city. The attacks also came close to stopping an American USAID (United States Agency for International Development ) flight to Saigon which evacuated the British Embassy from Phnom Penh. The six-member British Mission prepared to leave Phnom Penh yesterday without announcing the decision to many of the remaining British nationals in Cambodia.
