Summary / Abstract :
Kampong Luong is major Lon Nol base lying on Hightway 5, nearly 5km east of Oudong and 29km North of Phnom Penh. Following his debacle at Oudong, Lon Nol hurled as many as 3,000 reinforcement troops to Kampong Luong into an offensive to retake it. On April 22, 1974, field reports said that 800 Phnom Penh troops were reported "missing" right after they withdraw from Kampong Luong. Also reported "missing" were two battalions of the 39th regional brigade, including and commading officer, 10 armoured vehicles, 3 warships and many Longrange guns, morta boats and hundred of tons of munitions were destroyed of abandoned.
