|
According to AKT, in the recent dry season (October 1971-April 1972), the Cambodia armed forces and people killed and wounded or captured 56,000 enemy troops, among them 4,000 Saigonese soldiers and many Junior and Senior officers. The Phnom Penh army's 46th and 58th Regiments were put out of actions. 40 battalions including 3 battalions and tanks units, and hundreds of companies of Lon Nol troops were either desttroyed or decimated; 330 military vehicles, half of them tanks, were destroyed, and 72 aircrafts of different tuypes shot down or destroyed. The Cambodian armed forces and people seized 4,500 weapons and 350 tons of munitions, razed to the ground or forced the army to abandon 220 military outposts and futher enlarged the liberated zone.
