One of the major occupations of the small Brith Embassy in Phnon Penh is handing out visas to Chinese Cambodians bound for Hong Kong. The tics between Cambodia's Chinese minority and the colony provide one of Cambodia's economic lifetimes. Hong Kong's experts to Cambodia have increased significantly since the begining of the war in this country. One reason has been the lifting of the Cambodian ban on textiles from Hong Kong. In 1971, the colony exported to Cambodia goods worth US$4.5 million, up from $2.5 million in 1970. The total included foodstuffs from China as well as various manufactured goods.
