Summary / Abstract :

Ba Tuyen was born into the Thai Dam (Black Thai) community in Muong La, in what is now North Vietnam, in 1928. His father has a provincial chief in the French colonial administration. When the Vietminh war against the French broke out in 1946, his father was killer and the family moved to the relative safety of Hanoi.
