|
Phnom Penh: One way to see what war has done to the Cambodian economy is to take a train. There times a week a steam locomotive chugs out of Phnom Penh station. In case the track is mined, a flatcar beering two concrete pill boxes preceds the more valuable 40 years old engine. The train consists of amoured cars and boxcars that now serve as passenger coaches. Gaining confidence by blowing its whining whistle, the train passes a couple of destroyed locomotives.
