The opening of a permanet Malaysian mission to Cambodia at the begining of the year (whan Kaula Lumpur also established representation in Laos) underlined the new thrust in Malaysia's foraign ralations. The country's interest in Cambodia expresses the Commitment to neutralisation and greater regional cooperation. Malaysia's attitude to the struggle raging in Cambodia is underpinned by its pilicy of "not talking sides in the Indochina Conflict." Its neutral stand is, however, tempered by a recognition that the presence of the foreign (Norht Vietnamese) troops on Cambodian soil makes the situation "quite different from Vietnam" a Malaysian diplomat said.
