Summary / Abstract :
|
The collapse of the Lon Nol regime in Cambodia was a joyful event for the Cambodian people, but it was of more the just local significance. It showed the whole world once more that the days are over when imperialist countries could impose their will on people by force. A number of countries hastened to recognise Cambodia's Royal Government of National Unity as soon as Phnom Penh fell. In that they were very sensible. The Soviet Union was not one of them, however for it had recognised that government years before.
