New York: Cambodia has for the first time presented its version of the "Mayaguez Affair" to an American audience disclosing, in the process, a number of new details about the episode. Speaking recently to a group of Americans sympathetic to the new government in Phnom Penh, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs Ieng Sary said that the Mayaguez, the American conlainer ship seized in the gulf of Thailand in May, had been snatched by a local Cambodian commader without the knowledge or approval of the central authorities. Sary was in New York to attend the U.N General Assembly session.
