Just a week short of five years after US President Richard Nixon sent American troops to invade Cambodia, its capital, Phnom Penh, has fallen to the Khmer Rouge. According to a Washington story, a few nights before the US invasion Nixon saw the film patton, a highly-coloured look at the flamboyant World War II US general with the pearl-handled revolver who was given the image of a man of decisive action.
