A wakeful night: On one night's special leave army. The next morning I was to rejoin my mates cross and the " Indochina Highway " heavily guarded by the enemy. Not the slightest stri in my house. Not a souleither. I stepped on the threshold, through the bamboo blind and shivered:on the alter in the middle of the central room there were a photograph of mine as big as exercise book, in a wooden frame. Ineense was burning in front the photograph which seemedto sneer at me... In the Loc Ninh battle our company's intendent, who bone the same as I, was killed. A for me, I was injured and sent to hospital. P5
