The colonel calmly picked up the live M-79 launched grenade, walked to a shallow, sandbagged hole in the ground and deposited it inside. Several hundred spectators, who had gathered on the edge of the small field the rounds of a military hospital in Phnom Penh, broke into spontaneous applause, many slapping the colonel on the back as he walked, smiling, through theie ranks. They had just watched him remove the grenade from the arm of a Cambodian soldier's wife.
