Phnom Penh: In Cambodia, survival is an achievment and and calls for a celebration, especially when certain doom had been forcecast. Speaking at the Khmer Republic's first Armed Forces Dany on August 15-chosen symbolically to denote the coming of the National Armed Forces of Cambodia (FANK) following the withdrawal of the American air umbrella-President Lon Nol reminded Cambodians that on the same day last year "many observers predicated the early fall of our republic. As everybody can see today, we are still here".
