Vietiane, Laos, January 10 -The Southern Laotian town of Saravane was abandoned by Government troops yesterday in the face of a crushing Communist artillery barrage, military sources here reported today. They said that during a 14 hours period 8,000 shell fell on Government positions in the devastated town causing "moderat casualties".
