Summary / Abstract :
|
Until three years ago, the 6.5 million people of Cambodia lived relatively protected from the war which ravaged their nighbors. In March of 1970 their leader, prince Norodom Sihanouk, who had maitained a posture of neutrality, was deposed by a coup d'etat staged by Marshal Lon Nol and the Cambodian army. By the end of the month, U.S. bombers were attacking inside Cambodia. The day of peace and tranquillitywere over.
