|
Border clashes still occur between Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge troops, according to Hanoi sources. Relations between the two countries remain strained, particularly because of China's continuing strong influence in Cambodia, where Chinese Military Advicers are now reported to have replaced Vietnamese Phnom Penh recently protested to Hanoi after a large Vietnamese force took up a position inside Cambodia's northeastern Ratanakiri province. But there was no reaction from the Vietnamese.
