On ignorait encore mardi 6 avril en fin de matinêe qui dirigenit officiellement le Cambodge à la suit du "départ à la retraite" du Prince Sihanouk. Dans une dépêche datée de Bangkok, l'A.F.P a indiqué que, selon une écoute de Radio Phnom Penh, M. Khieu Samphan, vice-premier minister et minister de la défense, avait été nommé président du Cambodge Démocratique.
