Guardian staff correspondent wilfred Burchett lived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for four years untill the government was overthrown in 1970 and is a friend of Norodom Sihanouk. here are some comment from him to Guardian readers about Washington's current efforts to pump some life into the political corpse of puppet leader Lon Nol: As the war in Cambodia moves towards its climax, a depressing aspect is the extent to which American leaders continue to deceive their own public about real situation.
