Summary / Abstract :
|
Soon after the communist Khmer Rouge conquered Cambodia a year ago and launched the brutal campaign to mold a revolutionary agrarian society, Prince Norodom Sihaknouk was brought back from exile in Peking. Once the irrepressible god-king of a sundrenched, careful land, Sihanouk was so stunned by what he saw on his return that he burst into tears. Nonetheless, the communists decided to keep him on as fitular chief if state as a symbol of national unity.
