The guns had hardly fallen silent in the last Indochina war before the new war began. "As early as the begining of May, 1975, Kampuchea deployed its armed forces in an attack on Phu Quoc and Chu islands, taking away more than 500 civilians, making incursions into Vietnam's territory at many places along the border from Ha Tien.
