Nuon Chea, Chairman of the Cambodian People's Representative Assembly who was last week named acting premier, is not as shadowy a figure as the ailing Premier Pol Pot. Contrasted with Pol Pot, whose name was never mentioned before April this year-thus leading to speculation that he could well be Saloth Sar, Secretary of the Khmer Communist Party, Noun Chea was known to be the political commissar of the Cambodian People's Liberation Army, and his photograph was publicised in 1972.
