There have been a surge of information lately on the horrid nature of the regimes that took over in Indochina after the United States and its "friends" there were expelled by the victorious communists. The world that the government of Vietnam is quite repressive and the one in Cambodia undeniably is being used, perversely, as a sort of justification-after-the-fact of the American intervention in that long war.
