Selon les services de renseignements Américains, l'aviation Vietnamienne s'est livrée récemment à des bombardements d'une ampleur sans précédent dans ce conflit en territoire Khmer, afin de briser une résistance qualifée d' "acharnée". Des appareils Américains capturés en 1975 -- chasseurs à réaction F5 et avions A37-ont été utilisés au cours de ces raids effectués jusqu'à 60 Kilomètres à l'intérieur du Cambodge, en particulier dans la région de Kampong Cham.
