I am much taken by Richard Nation's last two articles on Kampuchea's fall and its implications for Thailand. What fascinates me is his "4 to 1" odds in favour of Vietnam should a war break out between Vietnam and Thailand, and the comment that "the only thing to stop them [the Vietnamese] is Bangkok's traffic" in Thailand prepares to think of the unthinkable [Review, Feb. 2]. Joking apart, what is deplorable is that the Thias themselves do not know the real situation few thinking people have found out by reading the foreign press-let alone discuss in public.
