Summary / Abstract :
Like a phoenix , capitalism is emerging from the ashes in Kampuchea- or from hundreds of mass graves that litter the Country. In their urge to begin a new life, people are opening up graves to look for gold with which to buy essentials over the Thai border. But while life is stirring back in Pol Pot's former killing ground, the fate of the Khmer people, threatened by hunger and disease, still hangs in the balance,(P.1).
