The Chinese Foreign Ministry, in its reply note to the Vietnamese. Foreign Ministry on January 20, pointed out that the "Proposal" put forward in the latter's note of January 2 for both the Chinese and Vietnamese sides "To stop hostilities along the border" on the occasion of the traditional spring Festival was in fact aimed at deceiveing world opionion, deluding the Vietnamese people and shirking responsibility so as to cover up its acts of intensifying anti-chian manoeurres and war of aggression against Kampuchea.
