L'Albanie a reconnu la République Populaire du Kampuchéa comme étant "le seul gouvernement légitime du Cambodge" a annoncé jeudi 6 Octobre, l'agence albanase Ata. Le dirigeant albanais M. Eaver Hodja qui avait auparavant reconnu et soutenu le gouvernement Khmer Rouge, a adressé un message à M. Heng Samrin, chef de l'Etat du régime provietnamien, L'assurant de son total appui et dênonçant "lescrimes monstrueux commis par la bande criminelle de Pol Pot et de ceux qui lui accordaient leur apui" c'est à-dire les chinois.
