Summary / Abstract :

In August 1980, the prospect for an increase in the effectiveness of the Democratic Kamuchea resistance seemed dim to nor existance. Between 1979 and 1980 the village population remained surprisingly stable. Despite the contradictions which existed between the new emerging upper status peasant political and economic complex and the lower one peasant in village, there was often still a reasonalbe potential for co-operation across constitution against the estern-village world. By the end of August 1980, there was only one organizationally conquare alternative in the running: Son Sann's and Diem Dels Khmer People's Natoinal Liberation Front (KPNLF).
