Summary / Abstract :

Many statistics gathered from villages in different parts of Kampuchea suggest that women are 60% of the present population and an even higher percentage of the present adult population, amongst whom there are very many widows. The president of the women's asociation in Phnom Penh hold me that women make up 75% of the adult population. Why did so many women survive the Pol Pot period than men? from widows interviews with people in different pars of Kampuchea.
