Summary

Hoeun Vuthy is 45 years old. She lives in Trasek Chrum village, Malai sub-district, Malai province. Vuthy was born in Dang Torng village, Dang Torng commune, Dang Torng district, Kampot province. Her father's name is Cheng Hoeun and her mother៌s name is Prum Sar.
During the time of Democratic Kampuchea, Vuthy was young and therefore cannot remember what happened to her and her family. She only knows that her mother was a Khmer Rouge soldier.
After the Khmer Rouge collapsed in 1979, Vuthy and her parents escaped to Malia along the Cambodia-Thailand border. She remembers walking far distances and climbing up and down the mountains. In 1985, Vuthy and parents moved to live in the refugee camp Th-85 in Thailand, as did many other Khmer Rouge soldiersr in Malai. In 1987, Vuthy married a soldier named Bun Buthoeun. In 1990, she returned to Malai with her husband. During this time, the region was littered with land mines put there by both the Khmer Rouge and the Vietnamese army. When Vuthy was 7 months pregnant, she became seriously ill with malaria and was sent to a hospital in Thailand.
There, she delivered her baby. Currently, she stays at home and looks after her children. Her husband is a deputy chief of the battalion stationed along the Cambodian-Thailand border in Pailin province.
