Summary / Abstract :
|
Relations between beijing and Phnom Penh go back to the 1950s but, apart perhaps from the Khmer Rouge days, they have never been stronger than they are today. The May 18-21 visit to Cambodia by Li Peng, the powerful chairman of China's national people's confress and number two in the ruling communist party, marked a new step in China's growing influence in Cambodia.
