Summary

Prum Rin, male, 58 years old and lives in Tuol Pongro village, Tomnop Dach commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province. Rin៌s wife is San Thol. Rin has three sisters and five brothers. Rin is a farmer.
Rin was born in Chann village, Prey Kandieng commune, Peamro district, Prey Veng province. Rin៌s father is Prum Ran and his mother, Pao Ro. Rin has four sisters and three brothers. Rin studied grade 10 (old system) at a Primary School when he was young. Rin quitted from school in 1970, and then he helped his parents in rice field.
In 1972, Rin volunteered to join the KR revolution and he served as a soldier of Peamro district៌s military unit. [Ta] Veng was a chief of Peamro district. [Ta] Veng now lives in Malai district, Banteay Meanchey province. [Ta] Che was a chief of the military unit. [Ta] Che now is a brigadier general of military zone 5. In 1973/74, Rin moved to join with military unit of Region 24. Chuon was a chief of a regiment. Rin៌s unit was assigned to fight against Lon Nol soldiers along National Road number 1 around Neak Loeung. Rin did not enter Phnom Penh when the KR gained the power in April, 1975. Aftermath, the KR assigned Rin to Division 805 for Eastern Zone. Rin was a chief of a platoon . Sok Saroeun was a chief of the Division. Sok Saroeun now is major general of Military Zone 4. So Phim was a chief of Eastern Zone. So Phim៌s wife is [Yeay] Karo. Chea Sim was a chief of Ponhea Krek district of Region 21. Heng Samrin was a chief division 4 of Eastern Zone. Chea Sim, Heng Samrin; and other escaped to Vietnamese when the KR searched for arresting them in mid-1978.
When the Vietnamese entered Cambodia in 1979, Rin fled along National Road Number 1 and then he crossed from east to west banks of Mekong River. In 1980, Rin reached Cambodia-Thaliand border. Rin was in Division 450 of Malai district. Sok Pheap was a chief of the division.
In 1981, Rin used to guard King Sihanouk for a few times when the king came to Malai area. At that time, Rin remembered about the king speech €œwe come together for our nation€�.
In 1984, Rin joined Division 519. Dul Saroeun, Mao; and Pen Voy were leaders of the division. Rin said that the China supported the KR both weapons and foods. In 1986, [Ta] Mok took Rin and other to his base [1003]. There, Rin was in Division 801. Saroeun and Keo were chief and deputy chief of the division.
In 1989, [Ta] Mok took over Anlong Veng area when the Vietnamese withdrew from Cambodia. In 1990 [Ta] Mok paved a road from Dangrek Mountain to Anlong Veng and he allowed his soldiers to live in the area. At that time, [Ta] Mok had to log and sell woods to Thailand because the China cut out the aids. In 1993, the KR boycotted from first general election, and then the KR had internal conflict. In 1998, the KR integrated with the Cambodian government. Rin said that after the integration, people can do anything as they want.
