Chheng Pheap, female, 58 years old, former KR midwife of Region 103. Chheng Pheap, farmer, lives in Tuol Pungro village, Tumnup Dach commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province. She was born in Stao village, Stao commune, Kulen district, Preah Vihear province. Her husband៌s name is Ek Kuy, former KR soldier of Division 612. She has four brothers and one sister. She is the second child of her family. After the coup in 1970, Preah Vihear was situated in Liberated Zone of KR forces. In 1971, her friend, Vy, introduced her to join the revolution with KR movements. At the first time, he was assigned to join art group with other young girls whom were selected from various areas in Preah Vihear. Six months later, she was selected to serve army. She was in a special unit, better known as Kh-2, and was under control Bang Pung (sister Pung). When KR came to take control in 1975, she was selected to be a midwife at P-2 hospital in 1976. In fact, when she was young, she always imagined she would be a medical staff one day. In that time, she was really happy because her dream had come true. She said she did not get a proper training. She had just learnt from other members and had practiced their words on patient. Six months later, she was sent to work in transportation unit in Phnom Penh. In early 1977, she stopped working in Phnom Penh and came back to work in transportation office in Rovieng district situated in Region 103. She was under control of Bang Lon (elder sister Lon). Bang Sang, Khiev Samphan៌s elder sister-in-law, was a chief of Rovieng district. Besides carrying materials, she was assigned to plant vegetable and care children. She then moved to work as a regional midwife and was under control of Bang Hoch. After the collapse of KR in 1979, she escaped with KR into the jungle. Pheap mentioned KR announced the people escaped from the Vietnamese soldiers because the Vietnamese would kill all the people. In 1980, she arrived in Sector 1003 situated in Dangrek Mountain and was under control of Ta Mot, Ta Mok៌s son-in-law. In that time, she was supported both rice and consumed materials. After KR fought to control in Anlong Veng from the Cambodian soldiers in 1990, she came down from the mountain to live in Tumnup Dach. Afterward, she fled to O-Svay when the Cambodian soldiers attacked KR forces. Again, she came back to live in Tumnup Dach after KR integrated with the Cambodian government in 1998.
