Ron Phin, male, 56 years old, former KR soldier. Ron Phin, farmer, lives in Tuol Prasat village, Tumnup Dack commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province. He was born in Tapom village, Svay Chres commune, Snoul district, Kratie province. His wife៌s name is Tuon Ry. He has four sons and two daughters. He has four brothers and two sisters. He is the third child of his family.

When KR came to take control in 1975, he was separated from his family to work in rubber plantation in Snoul. Ta Ran (grandfather Ran) was a chief of rubber plantation. For his daily work, he was assigned to grate rubber tree. He sometimes carried rubber product to put on a car. He knew that these rubber products were transferred to outside the country, although he did not know where these products would be brought to. Phin stated that when he missed his parents, he used to ask for permission to visit them. But he was not allowed to visit them. Also, he used to see KR executed many people whom did something wrong its order in the plantation. In 1977, he was selected to be a soldier to fight Vietnamese soldiers in Kratie.

After the collapse of KR in 1979, he escaped from Vietnamese soldiers into the jungle because he heard the Vietnamese would kill all the Cambodian people. In that time, he fled with his team members, approximately 20 people. He said that he had lived in the jungle for a half of year by facing miserable living condition both eating and disease. He then arrived in Sector 1001 situated in Dangrek Mountain in 1981. He added he did not know where to go. Afterward, his team met KR forces when they came down from the mountain to work in selected point to attack Vietnamese and Cambodian soldiers. On the way to Sector 1001, he had walked on foot for a month. And then he was appointed to join Division 801 and was under control of Ta Saroeun aka Ta 05. During fighting against the Cambodian government, he was commanded to attack the Cambodian soldiers in kampong Thom and Kampong Cham province. Military materials were transferred down from the mountain to stock in Prey Sa-ak. For unmarried women, they were assigned to work in transportation unit to carry these materials to the battlefield. Phin told that he broke his right leg by stepping on a mind when he came down the mountain to bring water.

When KR forces fought to control Anlong Veng from the Cambodian soldiers, he came down from the mountain to live Tumnup Dack. And then he fled to live in O-Svay after attacking from the Cambodian soldiers via Trampong through Preah Vihear province. After the integration with between the Cambodian government and KR, he has come back to live Tumnup Dack until now. For his experience, he really regrets his participation with KR. He added that he is a disable because of war so that he does not want it occurring again.
