Hao Rorn, female, 59 years old, former salt worker. Hao Rorn, farmer, lives in O-Svay village, O-Svay commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province. He was born in Pong Teuk village, Kous commune, Tramkak district, Takeo province. Her husband៌s name is Chhom Huon, former KR soldier, whom she married in 1980. She has a son and four daughters. She is the third child of her family. Her father៌s name is Hor Nom and her mother៌s name is Om Phorn. They passed away. For her childhood life, she studied at Angmontrei primary school. After graduating her study in grade 7 for because her father told her that she should help to work at home. In the other hand, if she wanted to pursue her study, she had to journey a long distance because the school was far away from home. After the coup in 1970, her village was a battleground between Lon Nol soldiers and KR forces. In that time, she and her family members always fled from fighting to find safe place in the jungle. When she heard nothing anymore, she came out of the jungle to live in the village.

When KR came to take control in 1975, she was selected to work in salt farm in Sector 35, Kampot province. She added she knew Kampot located in Sector 35, she heard from other people. During a period of time, she was separated from her family to live and work communally with other young woman and was under control of Bang Rin (elder sister Rin). With working at salt farm, she stated that she started work from 7-11am and 1-5pm and ate rice cooking corn two times a day. During rainy season, her team could not continue to work in salt farm, so the team was assigned to plant vegetable or another crop. Working away from home, she really missed her family members but she was not allowed to meet them. Therefore, she decided to write two letters to them, although the letters could not reach there. For her living life under the KR, she did not brave to act anything against the Angkar, because she was afraid of punishment or beating. So she always tried to work hard both day and night.

After the collapse of KR in 1979, she escaped with her team from Vietnamese soldiers into the jungle. By doing so, she heard that Vietnamese soldiers kill KR if they meet KR. So it was a reason that she followed KR and also knew nothing how her life would be in the future. On the way in the jungle, she met KR forces and then followed them until she arrived in Sector 1001 in late 1979. In 1982, she moved to live in Sector 1003 after attacking from Vietnamese and Cambodian soldiers. She then fled to live in O-Trav camp in Thailand when Cambodian soldiers continued to attack KR areas situated in Dangrek Mountain along Cambodian-Thai border. For living condition as refugee in the stronghold, she was supported both rice and materials from KR and international Red Cross. After KR fought to control Anlong Veng in 1990, she came down from the mountain to live in Trapeang Prey located in Anlong Veng in 1991. In 1994, she moved to live in Tumnub Dack. Then, she had fled to live in O-Svay since 1995 until now. After the integration between the Cambodian government and KR forces in late 1998, she came back visit her family members. In fact, she wanted to visit them for a long time, but she could not. Because here is a former battlefield and the people did not go anywhere.
