Khoem Khean, male and lives in Tuol Char village, Tomnop Dach commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province. Current, Khean is first deputy chief of Tomnop Dach commune.
Khean was born in Kraing Yov commune, Sa-Ang district Kandal province. Khean studied grade 10 (old system) at Kraing Yov Primary School. Khean quitted from the school soon after coup d៌état in 1970. Sa-Ang district was under the KR (liberation zone) since the coup d៌état. In 1974, Khean volunteered to join the KR movement. First he was in Division 11. His unit often fought against Lon Nol soldier near Phnom Chiso. In late 1974 or early 1975, the KR sent Khean to Division 14. The division operated in north part of Phnom Penh. When the KR gained power in April 1975, Khean was in Phnom Penh. At that time, the KR changed the division៌s name as Division 801, and then the KR sent the division to protect Cambodia border in Ratanak Kiri. Khean was in Regiment 82. In 1978, the KR assigned Khean to supervise child unit of Northeast Zone. There were around 200 indigenous children in the unit. Khean took some children along with him when the Vietnamese arrived in Cambodia in 1979. Khean stayed with local people in Chhep district almost one month, Khean reunited with the KR and went into forest within Preah Vihear province. In May 1980, Khean climbed up Dangrek Mountain at Tonle Ropeou. Khean was in the KR military base [1001]. Khean moved to Chup Run of the KR military base [1003] when Vietnamese had strongly attack along Khmer-Thai border in 1984. Khean and his family went down to live in Preah Pralay border chickpoint when the KR took over Anlong Veng area in 1990. |
