Ek Koy, male, 75 years old and lives in Tuol Pongro village, Tomnop Dach commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province.
Koy was born in Sakream village, Sakream commune, Stung district, Kampong Thom province. Koy went to school only two months when he was young. Koy become a Buddhist monk at Sakream pagoda more than 20 years (1953 to 1973). After disrobed from being the monkhood, Koy lived with his elder sister in Ta Seng village, Lvea Krasaing commune, Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province. In 1973, Koy joined the KR revolution through Kuy who was a head of Ta Seng Primary School. First, the KR assigned Koy to work in mobile brigade unit of region [103] until the Vietnamese arrived in Cambodia in 1979. Also in 1979, Koy moved to live in Svay Leu district of Siem Reap province, and then Koy joined the KR. Koy was a solder in [Ta] Tem៌s division. In 1980, Koy climbed up Dangrek Mountain and moved to Division 612. In Hoeun, Van Kosal; and SaoThan were leaders of the division. In early 1990s, Koy were promoted to be a chief of Regiment 3 of the Division. In 1993, the KR ordered Koy to lead his soldiers to occupy Preah Vihear Temple from the Cambodian government. Koy៌s unit stationed in the temple until the KR integrated with the government in 1998. After the integration, Koy was assigned to be a chief Rural Development Office of Trapeang Prasat district. Koy retired from his office in 2009. |
