Ry Phal, female, 52 years old and lives in Tuol Char village, Tomnop Dach commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province.
Phal was born in Trapeang Kraham village, Trapeang Kraham commune, Kaun Mom district, Ratanak Kiri province. Phal៌s father is Ry and her mother, Mao. Both her father and mother died in 1979 and 1985. Phal has only her elder sister, Chann Nang.
In 1977, Phal joined the KR. First she was in Child Unit in Trpeang Kraham village. The KR assigned Phal to ditch canal; and carry rice from rice field. Phal also joined other children to study Khmer literature during Lunch time.
When the Vietnamese arrived in Cambodia in 1979, Phal and her mother followed KR to flee into forest. In 1980, Phal ran to Tonle Ropeou. There, Phal was in a Women Transportation Unit 81. [Neary] Choeun was a chief of the unit. In 1985, the Vietnamese took over along Canbodia-Thailand border, Phal ran into Thailand territory, and then Thai took Phal and other to Village 81, O-trav refugee camp. [Ta] Mok was highest leader in the camp. At that time, Phal helped to make spikes (sharpened bamboo) for the KR. In 1992, Phal went down to live in Toul Char village [Former Village 81].
