Muon Yam, male, 51 years old and lives in Tuol Prasat village, Tomnop Dach commune, Trapeang Prasat district, Oddar Meanchey province. Yam is a retirement soldier. Yam was born in year of dragon in Keng Prasat village, Sambo commune, Sambo district, Kratie province. Yam៌s father is Muon Khe and his mother, Ho Vien. Yam has two brothers and three sisters. Yam is third in his family. Yam did not go to school when he was young. In 1976, Yam joined the KR revolution. First, Yam was a messenger of Sambo៌s district៌s office. Yam had duty to deliver letters from the district to commune offices. [Ta] Chet was a chief of Sambo district. Yam knew Chet very clear because Chet was a teacher of his father. Chet always visited his father house. Chet៌s office was in Koh Khnhe or Prey Preah Meru.In 1978, the KR sent Yam to serve as a soldier in Snuol district. Yam៌s unit fought against Vietnamese along border at Snuol district. [Ta] Hoeun and [Ta] Phon were commanders of the KR at Kratie battlefield.When the KR collapsed in early 1979, Yam and other KR soldier fled to Kampong Chhnang and Pursat provinces. Yam was in Regiment of [Ta] Pin. Yam៌s unit operated along National road number 5. Yam married to Nim Kot in 1989, and then they went down to live in Tomnop Dach.
